Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 7, 2026

This policy explains what Hello World AS ("we", "us") collects when you use the Dinner Planner app and this website, what we use it for, who else handles it, and how you get it deleted. The short version: we collect what is needed to plan your dinners, we do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.

What we collect

  • Your account. Your email address, the name Apple or Google gives us if you sign in with them or the name you type, and how you sign in. Accounts made before version 2 may have a password, which we store only as a salted hash.
  • Your kitchen. How many adults and children you cook for, allergies, diet, your other rules, dislikes, equipment, what is always in your cupboard, your kitchen note, how much time you like to spend, the country you shop in (at first, the region your phone is set to), your language and units. Allergies and diet can say something about health or belief. You give them to us so that every recipe follows them, and that is the only thing we use them for.
  • What you make. Menus, recipes and their photos, shopping lists, favourites, and what you have ticked off or cooked.
  • Your subscription. Whether you have Dinner Planner Pro, which product, and when it renews or ends. Apple handles App Store payments. Website purchases use RevenueCat Billing, with Stripe processing the payment. The checkout collects your email address and the billing details needed for payment and any applicable taxes. We do not receive or store your full card details.
  • Assistants you connect. Which assistants you have connected, what you allowed them to do, and one line for each thing they did.
  • Sign-in records. Your network address (IP address) and browser or app details (the "user agent") are stored with your account's sign-in session, along with when you signed in and a token that keeps you signed in. We use these records to manage sign-in and protect access to your account.
  • Technical records. Server logs with the time, the kind of request, an error code and a scrambled identifier of the account that made the request, kept to run and protect the service. They do not contain your email address or the content of your requests. Separately, to stop abuse we count requests per network address, stored in hashed form and deleted after two days.

How recipes and photos are made

Menus, recipes, answers while you cook and photos of the dishes are made by AI models from Google (the Gemini API). The app asks you to accept this before the first time.

  • What is sent to Google: your kitchen's rules (the number of adults and children, allergies, diet, your other rules, dislikes, equipment, what is always in your cupboard, your kitchen note, time, the country you shop in, language and units), what you type when you ask for something, the recipe a request is about, and a photo of your pantry or fridge when you use the pantry scan.
  • What is never sent: your name, your email address, your account or household identifiers, who is in your household, your subscription, or anything about payment.

Google uses this content to answer your request. Under the paid Gemini API terms, it does not use these prompts and answers to improve its products. Google also retains prompts, supplied photos and answers for a limited period to detect abuse and meet legal requirements. Authorized Google staff may review content flagged for possible misuse. Its abuse-monitoring policy describes this retention and use.

A pantry photo is used to read what is in the picture. We do not save the original photo to your account or our photo storage; Google's retention described above still applies. Please do not write personal details about yourself or others in your kitchen note or in the text you send.

Who else handles your information

We use these companies to run the service, and share only what each needs:

  • Cloudflare: hosting, security and storage of the dish photos.
  • Google: the AI models described above, and sign-in with Google.
  • Apple: purchases, subscriptions and Sign in with Apple.
  • RevenueCat: tells us whether a subscription is active. It receives an identifier for your account and your purchase records. For website purchases through RevenueCat Billing, it also receives the email address and billing details you provide at checkout, to manage the subscription and send receipts and billing emails.
  • Stripe: processes website payments and receives the payment method and billing details you provide at checkout. It uses them to process payments, prevent fraud and meet its legal obligations.
  • Resend: sends our emails (sign-in codes, invitations, the trial reminder, the confirmation that an account was deleted).

We do not sell your information, we do not share it for advertising, and the app and this website contain no third-party advertising or tracking. The website sets no cookies until you sign in.

Sharing with your household

When you invite someone, or join someone's household, the people in that household see its menus, recipes, shopping lists and kitchen rules, and each other's names. Favourites stay personal. A recipe is visible to people outside your household only if you share its link, and then to anyone who has the link.

Assistants

If you connect an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT, it can read the household you chose, and change what you allowed, until you remove it. What the assistant receives is then handled by its provider under their terms and your settings there. You can see what each assistant did, and remove it, in the app under Profile, AI assistants.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and what you have made until you delete them. Sign-in records may remain while your account exists; deleting your account removes them. Records of AI usage, assistant activity and subscription events are deleted after 90 days. Sign-in codes and abuse counters are deleted within days. One thing is kept for a year after an account is deleted: how much of the free allowance it had used, stored with a scrambled form of the email address that cannot be turned back into the address. It is there so that deleting an account and making it again does not start the free allowance over, and it is used for nothing else.

Billing records held by Apple, RevenueCat and Stripe are handled separately from your Dinner Planner account. These providers may retain transaction records to meet their legal obligations. Write to hi@dinnerplanner.ai for help requesting deletion of billing information.

Deleting your account

In the app, open Profile, then Account, then Delete account, or sign in on dinnerplanner.ai/account and choose Delete account. This deletes your account, your sign-in methods, your profile and favourites, your assistant connections, and the household you own with everything in it: kitchen, menus, recipes and their photos, and shopping lists. People who had joined your household keep their own accounts. In households you had joined, what you added stays with that household. We send one email to confirm. The record of the free allowance is kept as described above. Technical records are kept for the purposes described above, and Google's abuse-monitoring records follow its own retention policy. Deleting your Dinner Planner account does not cancel an App Store or website subscription, or automatically remove billing records held by the payment providers. Cancel before deleting: use your App Store settings for an Apple subscription, or the billing portal linked from your account page or purchase email for a website subscription. If you cannot use the app or need help with billing information, write to hi@dinnerplanner.ai from the account's address.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your information, have it corrected or deleted, and object to how we use it. Write to hi@dinnerplanner.ai. We are established in Norway and follow the EU General Data Protection Regulation. We process your information to provide the service you asked for, to meet legal duties, and, for security and abuse prevention, because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the service running. You can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) or to the authority where you live.

Children

Dinner Planner is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. A household's owner can mark a member as a child, which limits what that member can change. It is still that person's own account and must meet the age rule above.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we post the new version here and change the effective date. If a change is significant we tell you in the app or by email first.
